Dear Edison Students and Families,
Edison Local Schools is proud to partner with the Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak Memorial Foundation for a special Salute to Service Football Game as the Edison Chargers take on Northwood.
This special evening is an opportunity for our entire Edison community to come together to honor our veterans, recognize those who have served our country, and support organizations that serve veterans and their families.
Salute to Service Football Game
Edison vs. Northwood
Friday, September 11, 2026
Game Time: 7:00 p.m.
Special Events Begin: 6:00 p.m.
Veterans will receive FREE admission to the game. Veterans should enter to the left of the ticket booth to sign in.
Veterans are invited to enjoy the game and refreshments from the Bickley Outdoor Balcony. For veterans who are unable to climb stairs, a special seating area will be available on the high jump pad in the end zone near the field house.
Help Us Fill the Trailer!
The Humane Society of Erie County has generously donated dogs that have been evaluated and determined eligible to be trained as service dogs for veterans. We are asking the Edison community to help support this effort by donating much-needed supplies to the Humane Society of Erie County.
Requested donations include:
Bleach
Non-clumping cat litter
Heavy-duty 13-gallon trash bags
New dog toys for hard chewers
Canned cat/kitten food
Paper towels
Toilet paper
Canned sensitive-stomach dog food
Sensitive-stomach cat & kitten food
Kleenex
Feline probiotics
White printer paper
Powder laundry detergent
Rescue disinfectant gallons
Gas cards
Donation Drop-Off Locations
Donations may be dropped off at any Edison school:
Edison Elementary School – Main Office
Edison Middle School – Main Office
Edison High School – Athletic Office
The Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak Foundation trailer will also be located outside the football field during the game. Please consider bringing a donation with you on September 11 and helping us FILL THE TRAILER!
More Salute to Service Activities
The evening will feature several special activities and community partners, including:
Firelands Military Vehicle Group – Military vehicles, including some from World War II, will be available for everyone to see, touch, sit in, photograph, and learn about.
Erie County Veteran Services – Representatives will be available to provide information and resources for veterans and their families.
Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak Memorial Foundation – Helping our community honor and remember one of our own hometown heroes, as well as supporting veterans in need.
Humane Society of Erie County – Supporting the mission of the Humane Society of Erie County, including the training of service dogs for veterans.
