Morning Announcements - Wednesday, September 18, 2019

At 3:00 today, auditions for Radium Girls will be held in the auditorium. At 5:00, boys JV soccer will be at Ashland. At 6:00, boys varsity soccer is at Willard, and at 7:00, girls varsity soccer is at Vermilion.

The varsity volleyball team beat Margaretta 25-23, 25-8, 25-22.  Lilli Schuster led the team with 10 kills, followed by Olivia Vitaz with 7 kills.  Kira Appemen served 13 points and Natalie Lambert served 11 points. The JV volleyball team beat the Polar Bears 22-25, 25-22, 25-20.  Lydia Woodyard led the team with 8 kills, followed by Kenedy Keefer with 7 kills.  Sylie Hixon had 15 digs and Alivia Rakosky had 13 digs. The freshman volleyball team lost to Margaretta in 3 sets.  Kalli Quillen led the team in serving.

The Edison Boys golf team ended the 9 hole match season in style with a 172-178 win over Oak Harbor. Aden Hall put the exclamation point on his last home varsity match with a sensational one under 35. Noah Pulaski had 45, Matthew Pounds 46, Connor Betts 46. Good luck Boys at SBC Thurs.

Yesterday at Fremont Country Club girls golf team placed 2nd in the Bay Division with a team total of 366. Congratulations goes out to Senior Jordan Pruitt she broke the 18 hole school record by shooting a 73 the record was 74 held by Bailey Bixler since 2008.  Lauren Neher 96, Freshman Ava Grant had her personal best 98, Hunter Barylski chipped in a 99 to round out the scoring. September 19th at 4:00 pm the girls will play Bellevue at Thunderbird South. Keep Believing and Recharging!! Good Luck Ladies!
 
The Edison Lady Chargers JV soccer team took home a win against Huron with a score of 3-2. Scoring for the Chargers were Brienna Marcy, Isabella Sanabria, and Megan Coleman. Assists came from Jill Kromer. The Chargers play again on September 24th at Norwalk. 

The girls tennis team beat Port Clinton on Tuesday 5-0. Winning at singles were Jayla Medina, Emily Vogus and Alli Vogus. Winning at doubles were the teams of Kaylee Ries/Torri Keyser and Lindsey Kowalski/ Emily Moore. Winning for the JV team at singles was Lili Grant and at doubles were the teams of Emma Horchler/McKenna Shaffoe and Tessa Otto/Andrea Keoghan. The team is now 12-3.

The athletic office has presale tickets for sale for the home varsity football game on Friday night vs. Norwalk.  All presale tickets are $5 while all tickets at the gate are $6.  

Any student interested in joining Key Club are reminded to pay your $10 dues to the office by this Friday, Sept. 20.

The Edison Writing Center is open during all lunch periods today.  If you need help with a writing assignment, bring your lunch and your essay to Room 201 today. Today's tutors are: 5th - Nathan Spence & Briana Keyser  6th - Adam Frederick & Jacob Lombardi, and 7th period is - Jamie Anderson & Emily Vogus.

This is a reminder to all student drivers that your car must be registered each year.  You must have a current parking tag hanging from your rear view mirror.  Please complete the appropriate form and purchase your parking tag from the office for $1.00.  The parking lots will be checked starting this week.

Drama Club members interested in serving as STARS (Student Area Thespian Officers who assist in planning the North Area Thespian Conference) and are able to attend the first STARS meeting Saturday, September 21 from 9-11 at Lake Ridge Academy should sign up on the call board by Wednesday, September 18. Mr. Stanforth will be able to provide transportation for four students on a first come, first served basis.  If more than four students wish to attend we will need to discuss alternative transportation arrangements.

Start Homecoming week with a blast of color! Edison Teen Leadership class is hosting the 1.5 mile color run to kick off Homecoming! Jog, walk, run, or skip with you friends around Edison High school while going through color stations! It’s half the run but twice the fun! The color run will begin at 6pm on October 6th! Thank you to the student body’s ongoing support for the Teen leadership program! 
 
Attention Students! Play in a Hurry is on September 28th! If you are interested in contributing to this fundraiser please go to the call-board and sign up! We'd love to have anyone and everyone no matter your experience with drama! We need lots of people to make this happen! If you are interested in being part of the group of students who write the script we will be having our first meeting today at 5 pm after the Radium Girls auditions! Hope to see you there!

Attention policy debaters:  Mr. Amstutz will go over affirmative cases and negative strategies today and Thursday this week in the Conference Room from 3-4:15p.m. each day.  Please try to attend one or both of these crucial meetings!

Anyone interested in being on the bowling teams this year should stop into the athletic office and sign up this week.  There will be a very short informational meeting in the auditorium on Friday at 2:50 pm for anyone interested.
