Morning Announcements - Wednesday, February 6, 2019

At 6:00, varsity wrestling will be at Perkins with Clyde and Oak Harbor.

Hearing and vision screening will be done today with all 9th and 11th graders.  You should report to the conference room in the cafeteria during your study hall.

Congratulations to the Charger Wrestling Team for winning the regional title this past weekend at Elmwood High School.  The Chargers went 3-0 in regional action running their dual meet record to 33-2 on the season.  The team will travel to Columbus this weekend for the State Dual Meet Champions at St. John's Arena.  The Chargers are the overall #2 seed and will face Bidwell River Valley at 1:15 PM

The Lady Charger bowling team took on Clyde last night at Riverview Lanes.  Both girls team dominated Clyde. JV won by 138 pins, Kaylie Ries led all scores with a 133 and a 151.  The Varsity girls are still undefeated by beating Clyde by 400 pins.  Kaylie Harris was the high for all girls shooting a 154 and a 224.  Natalie Costello shot her personal high of 230.  Great wins by both teams.
 
The varsity girls basketball team defeated St. Paul last night 40 to 28 to improve their record to 15 and 4 overall. Aliyah Caporini paced the balanced attack with 12 points, 10 steals, and 5 blocks. Alana Fidler tossed in 11 points and hauled down 6 rebounds, while Mariah Medina contributed 9 points and 7 steals. Hannah Vitaz added 7 points and a game high 12 rebounds. The freshman girls basketball team lost to Perkins yesterday 28 to 20. Lydia Woodyard led the way with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Lindsay Roberts tossed in 4 points and 5 rebounds, while Leigh Anne Lambert scored 4 points and Lindsay Sneider added 3 points and hauled down a team high 7 rebounds. The Lady Charger basketball teams are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Vermilion for a junior varsity tip-off at 5:30. Hope to see you courtside.

Senior photos for this year's yearbook are due by February 22.  Though a digital photo file is preferred, you can also drop off a wallet sized print photo.  Senior quotes are also due by the 22nd.

Book Club will meet after school today, in Mrs. Wobser's room to decide on our next book and to watch The Hate You Give.  All are welcome!  Hope to see you there!  

The Math Lab is open everyday in room 402 during the lunch periods 5,6, and 7.

Students wishing to take the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics test need to pay the $5.00 registration fee to Mrs. Wallrabenstein by this Wednesday, Feb. 6.  The test is on Feb. 23.

Now is the time to begin earning your invitation to the spring Edison Works Lunch BBQ.  On May 22nd students that qualify get to enjoy an hour and a half of fun in the sun along with a BBQ lunch.  To see how you can join the fun see the posters hanging around the building.  We hope to see all of you at lunch on May 22nd!

Speech and Debate members, be sure to sign up for the National Qualifiers tournament this week if you are able to go. If you aren't competing at any future tournaments, please turn in your speech materials or binders. Ms. Baughman will be here after school for practices. 

Student Council is bring back Sadie's back to EHS.  The dance will be held Sunday February 17th in the gym from 7:00 until 10:00.  More information to follow on Thursday's announcements, so tune in.  Anyone who needs a guest form please see Mrs. Davis in 204 after announcements today.  

Attention all Interact members, our next meeting will be on Wednesday February 20th.  We are still in  need of students helping with backpack for the rest of February.  If you are able to help out, stop by the library and sign up.  

Time to buy your friend or that special person a flower for Valentine’s Day!  You can purchase a carnation for $1 during lunch modules all this week and Monday.  Flowers will be delivered to homerooms on Valentine's Day.  Thank you for your support! 

A reminder that Chess Club will meet after school in Mr. Newton’s room.  Every skill level is invited, not sure how to play...stop by!  

There will be a baseball meeting in Coach Hoovers room Thursday after school.  Anyone planning on playing baseball this spring should plan on attending this meeting

The Edison Writing Center is once again open during all lunch periods today.  If you need help with a writing assignment, bring your lunch and your essay to Room 201 today. Students covering 5th period today: Hannah Vitaz and Miranda Morley, Students covering 6th period are: Grace Wilson and Sydney Schuster and 7th period will be covered by Keagan Grames and Jess Stoll. 

All CCP government students are invited to the Coffee with Cops event during 2nd and 3rd periods in Mr. Collins room - 202.  Mr. Goodwin will make an announcement. 

Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State applications are due to Mrs. Brown by 3:00 Friday!
