COVID-19 School Closure / Frequently Asked Questions (Updated 3/13/2020 @ 3:35pm)

Thank you all for the patience and assistance during the past few days.  This is a very difficult situation for everyone, and I understand that it is very stressful for all of you. 


We will continue to share information as we receive it concerning both the schools and any information that we receive that may be helpful to you during this pandemic.  Please check our website regularly for updates.  If there is any urgent information we will send out a one call with the information or how you can access it.

We have put together a list of frequently asked questions that can be found below.  We will continue to add to these questions as we receive them.  Unfortunately, there are many questions that we do not have answers for at this time.  We will address these letting you know that we do not have answers at this time, but once we get the answers we will post them on our website.

Please note that after Monday the school buildings will be closed to everyone except essential employees. Please do not go to the buildings expecting to find someone there.  You are asked to contact staff via email.  Email addresses can be found on our website; the link can be found in the FAQ’s below.

Frequently Asked Questions:


Will there be school for students on Monday, March 16?
No. they will not attend school on Monday, March 16.

How long will school be closed?
Governor DeWine has closed all Ohio schools at least until April 3, 2020.  Any updates regarding school closure will be posted on the district website.  In addition, a One Call will be utilized to communicate updates.

Will the schools be providing breakfast & lunch for Edison students? 
Yes.  We will be providing breakfast/lunch for Edison students.   For more information >> CLICK HERE

Where can I locate the latest information about school district operations? 
We will continue to update our website with information as it becomes available at http://www.edisonchargers.org.

How will instruction be delivered? 
At the middle and high schools we will primarily be utilizing Google Classroom to deliver meaningful and relevant, standards-based content and instruction.  At the elementary it will be a combination of electronic and hard copies.  Completion of assignments will be counted for attendance and grades will be used as always for quarter and semester grades.

What if I don't have a device/tablet for a student in grades four through twelve?
Please contact Rob Laconis at [email protected] or Jason LaCivita at [email protected] and we will give you a scheduled timeframe to pick up a loaned chromebook and charger.  Additionally, we can make the assignments available in paper format. If you are requesting paper copies, please submit that request in writing through e-mail to your student’s teacher(s) and principal.

When will assignments be due? 
Teachers will communicate when assignments are due. 

How do I contact school personnel for assistance?

Will students need to make-up missed days over the summer or during spring break? 
At this time, it is too early to determine.  We will communicate new information as it becomes available.

Will state assessments be administered? 
As of 3/10/20, the state superintendent has indicated state testing will continue as scheduled. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has posted their own frequently asked questions - FAQ found here.  On 3/11/2020, Gov. DeWine stated he will work with schools to find a testing solution should districts close. 

Will graduation be impacted? 
Currently, it is hard to know the impact this will have on graduation. We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions closer to the date.
