Morning Announcements - Wednesday, October 21, 2020

A reminder that the end of the 9 weeks is this Friday.  On Monday October 26 all students will be attending Edison full time.  If you have any questions about grades or missing assignments - this is the time to ask your teachers.
 
Tonight at 7:30 Varsity volleyball will be playing in the sectional championship game. The Lady Chargers will take on the Wynford Royals and the game will take place at Huron High School.
 
It was a great day for the Charger Cross Country Teams at the SBC Championships Saturday. Abby Lesniak became the first female to win 4 individual SBC titles, leading the girls team to their 5th straight outright team title. It truly was a team effort!  Peyton Facemire and Paige Schaefer earned first team honors, and Kennedy Baker second team. On the boys side, Aidan Anderson broke into the 16's and finished in second place leading the team to a runner-up finish. Dax Austin also finished first team, while Will Duniver and Gabe Schirg earned second team honors. Congratulations to Peyton, Paige, Aidan and Gabe for being named runners of the week! Both teams are running great heading into Districts this Saturday at Galion. Keep up the good work, Chargers!
 
Congratulations to the following for their selections in SBC Bay Division boys soccer voting: Zarek Yoder & Jacob Robinson- 1st Team Defender. Zarek was also a unanimous selection.
Jamie DeLeon & Walker Cisco- 1st Team Midfield. Dylan O’Dell- 1st Team Attacker- Unanimous selection, Jake Thompson- 2nd Team Keeper and Noah Proctor & Garret McQuillen- Honorable Mention. Congratulations to Zarek Yoder on being a unanimous vote for the SBC Bay Division Boys Soccer, Most Outstanding Performer.
 
It’s official today from the state of Ohio that we are able to feed our Edison kiddos school meals at no cost throughout the 20-21 school year!! 
 
If you plan on buying anything extra at lunch, other than your lunch, you MUST have your card to scan. There will not be time to look up your name at the register. You may also grab your own snacks now! ~ Thank you from Mrs. Anderson & crew! (lunch ladies) 
 
Students please check your school email and read the important message from Mr. Goodwin with regard to coming back to school full-time on Monday.
 
Senior members of National Honor Society - Don't forget that your senior dues need to be paid in the main office by this Friday, Oct 23. Please pick up a form from Mrs. Facemire before you pay.
 
Speech & Debate Club members, Students involved with the Novice tournament should be here by 7:30 on Saturday morning. Remember, the Club Recruitment meeting is today after school in room 602. 
 
Lead 2 Hope is selling Candy Grams! Do you know someone who could use a little lift in their day? Why not send them a message with a Halloween treat? They will be sold during all lunch periods this Thursday and Friday for only $1! All proceeds from this will benefit the Lead 2 Hope program. Be sure to social distance when purchasing your candy grams. 
 
GREAT NEWS!!! Snow Trails in Mansfield Ohio will be opening up this season when the weather permits. Edison student's, friend's, and family members will once again have the opportunity to purchase season tickets at a reduced price.  Anyone interested in skiing or snowboarding and would like more information on this year's rates for season passes should see coach Shelley.
 
French Club members are reminded that your $5 dues need to be turned into Madame Parker by Thursday October 29 at our next meeting.  Anyone still wishing to join should see Madame this week or check out the Google Classroom link on the flyers around the school.  Members - Watch your email Tuesday for the survey ballot to vote for next year's officers.  The count will be finalized on Wednesday at 3pm.  
 
French Honor Society members are reminded that your honor society dues are included with your French Club dues.  Please plan to be at the meeting on October 29 to get the details about participation for your honor cords.
 
There will be a mandatory meeting for any girl in grades 9-12 going out for basketball this year. The meeting will be held tonight & Thursday this week in the library at 3:00 pm. Any questions, please see Coach Kurt. You must attend one of the meetings!
 
Drama Club - Set construction, Light, and Sound crew will work after school today from 3 - 4, and Thursday in the evening from 7 - 8:30. Please check the call board for information and email Mrs. Facemire if you have any questions or can not attend.
 
Attention policy debaters:  Mr. Amstutz will meet with all debaters today from 3-4:30 in room 602 and on Friday with first year debaters from 3-4.  This is the last week before the tournament season begins, so make sure that you have registered for the tournaments at which you plan to compete.  Every debater that plans to compete during October and November MUST check in with Mr. Amstutz this week.
 
On Friday October 30 Lead 2 Hope is sponsoring Halloween at EHS. Pay $2 to wear your costume to school. All costumes must be school appropriate and school approved. On the morning of Oct. 30, if you are wearing a costume, you should go directly to the library where Lead 2 Hope officials will collect your $2 and give you a bracelet to show you are participating in this activity. All students are welcome to join in the Halloween fun! 
 
Anyone interested in joining Chargerettes this winter please sign up in the athletic office by this Friday.
