Morning Announcements - Tuesday, February 9, 2021

The Charger Wrestling Team brought another state championship back to Edison High School on Saturday night.  The Chargers defeated Sandy Valley 52-20 in round 1 to advance to the semifinals.  In the semifinals the Chargers had a heated battle with Applecreek Waynedale but prevailed 38-30.  In the finals the Chargers defeated #1 ranked Legacy Christian 42-27.  During the state finals match Max Hermes recorded his 100th career win and Casey Barnett broke the state record with 155 career pins.  Great job to the entire program as this was a total team effort.  The team will be back in action on Wednesday night for the SBC Tournament at Port Clinton High School.
 
The Lady Chargers basketball team came up short last night against Norwalk at home 46-42. Leading the way for the Chargers was Lilli Schuster with 10 points, Lindsay Roberts with 9, Kalli Quillen with 9, Jayla Medina with 5, and Aliyah Caporini with 5. They will be back in action tonight at Vermilion. 
 
Chargers bowlers beat a very depleted Old Fort team last night! The guys started out hot almost hitting the 1,000 pin mark in the first individual game. They also broke the Baker game record of 251 by shooting 258! Leading the charge with a very fine 444 series was Cole Manning and close behind with 422 was Aydan Houser, followed up by Corbin Taylor with 402. Nice Bowling Guys! The lady bowlers also won with Piper Ball shooting 318 and Allison Collins rolling 289. Good job ladies!

If you’re not busy after school tomorrow and have been wanting to learn the game of chess, Now is your chance, stop by Mr Newton’s room where you have the opportunity to play with other students just like yourself! Everyone is welcome every Wednesday to learn the game of chess in room 405! 
 
Choir Council will be doing their annual $1 valentine carnation sale this week through Wednesday February 10th. This year you will place your order through a google form  - so please check your email, fill out the form and send that special someone OR friend, a flower to let them know you appreciate them. 
  
Attention senior members of National Honor Society - our monthly meeting is today at 2:55 pm in the Library.  See Mrs. Facemire if you can not attend as this is an important meeting.
 
The Lead 2 Hope students will be selling Lead 2 Hope face masks for $7. If you’d like to order - forms are available in the library outside Ms Wilson’s door or you may purchase them from any lead 2 hope member.  Place your order no later than February 15. 
 
Interact will be collecting until Thursday - please bring in whatever you’d like to donate to the men’s group home to make their valentines day special!  Interact members are asked to donate something.  All items can be dropped off in the library! Thank you for your kindness! 
 
The EHS Competition cheer squad competed virtually in the OASSA regional competition over the weekend. Congratulations to the team on having a high enough score to qualify for state. They will be holding the competition virtually for state as well. On March 13th, OASSA will publish a schedule of events and ALL events will be broadcast online with award announcements. We’d love for you to tune in to see how the team does.
