Morning Announcements - Friday, September 21, 2018

There will be an anti bullying program today at 10:00. At 2:30, we will have a pep rally and homecoming assembly.  Tonight at 7:00, varsity football will be at Toledo Woodward.  On Saturday, the cross country teams will be at the Cloverleaf Invite, and at 10:00, JV football will be at home with Woodward. 

Attention football fans:  It has been brought to our attention that Toledo Woodward has limited seating on the visitors' side of their stadium.  They are encouraging our fans to bring their own lawn chair to assure they have a seat at the varsity game tonight! 

Congratulations to the girls tennis team for participating in the SBC Bay Division tennis tournament. Winning championships were Mariah Medina at first singles earning Mariah first team all conference plus outstanding performer of the tournament and  Jayla Medina at second singles also earning first team. Emily Vogus finished 2nd at third singles and earned second team all conference. The doubles team of Kaylee Ries/Torri Keyser finished 2nd earning them first team all conference and the number two doubles team of Lexi Weyer/Emily Moore finished third earning them honorable mention in the conference.

The Edison Girls JV Soccer team beat Sandusky with a score of 1 to 0. The lone goal was scored by Sierra Auck. The Lady Chargers played solid defense lead by Goalkeeper Claire Treece. The Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday with a home game against Huron at 4:30pm.

The varsity volleyball team beat Margaretta 21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10.  Leaders at the net were Kira Appeman with 15 kills, Lilli Schuster with 12 kills, Jessica Stoll with 8 kills, and Hannah Vitaz and Melissa Kuhl with 7 kills each.  Defensive leaders were Grace Houser with 35 digs and Maddi Proy with 18 digs.  Olivia Vitaz had 21 assists and 13 digs, and Natalie Lambert had 14 assists and 8 digs.

The JV volleyball team beat Margaretta 25-8, 25-9.  Natalie Costello served 14 points and Reagan King added 7 points.

The freshman volleyball girls marched to a 2 game to zero victory last night at Margaretta 25-23 and 25-15.  Way to continue your undefeated season girls! 

The Edison boys golf team finished 5th in the SBC Invite. Aden Hall made 2nd team all tournament team with an 85 to lead the Chargers. Casey Fair shot 93 followed by Noah Pulaski with a 95. Matthew Pound had 106.

Last night on Sleepy Hollow golf course, junior Jordan Pruitt tied the school record she set earlier in the season, shooting a 33. Sophomore Lauren Neher had a 42, followed by Junior Hunter Barylski chipping in for a birdie on number 9 to shoot 50. Junior Jacqueline Fry continues to improve. The girls go to sectionals on Tuesday looking to build on the continuation of lowering scores .  Keep Believing and Recharging!

If you are interested in wrestling this season please sign up in the Athletic Office by Friday, October 5th.  Coach Hermes will be meeting with interested individuals to review details pertaining to the upcoming wrestling season.

Still need that special dress for homecoming but just don’t have the money for one?  Look no further Cinderella!  See Mrs. Brown or Mrs. Moyer in the library for more information on how you can get some confidential help!  Do it now, homecoming is right around the corner!

Students interested in joining Key Club will need to pay the $10 dues to the office today.  Students interested running for a Key Club officer position should sign up on the form outside of the auditorium

Attention Don't Drink the Water cast members.  All cast members who have not been in an Edison High School production before, please attend the Tuesday, September 25th rehearsal at 6:00 to be measured for costumes. 

ACT Boot Camp is back!  There is still time to sign up for ACT bootcamp.  Registration forms are available in the library, outside of Mrs. Brown's office and you should have received an email.   Please see Mrs. Brown  if you have any questions.

Book club will meet briefly today, in Mrs. Wobser's room after school to discuss access to and pacing of our first read, The Hate U Give, by Angie Thomas.  Mrs. Wobser will need a final count on those interested in reading this first selection by Friday afternoon.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, please see/email Mrs. Wobser to let her know if you would like her to order you a copy of the book.  The price for a paperback edition is $12 new and $7.50 used.  Mrs. Moyer has also ordered 4 copies from the Milan library, which we will have access to in the next few weeks.  Hope to see you there!

Youngstown State University will be available to talk with any students during lunch today.  Please stop by and talk with them!

Reminder: The "Financial Aid 101" Meeting will be MONDAY at 6:30pm in the auditorium.  Seniors - Make this a priority!

Attention student drivers:  All vehicles must be registered and the parking tag hung on your rearview mirror by Wednesday, September 26.  Students who do not register your vehicle by Wednesday will lose their driving privileges to school.

Student Council is looking for homecoming song suggestions.  You have today and Monday to write down your ideas.  Suggestion paper is in the library!

Those who signed up to be cheerleaders for the Homecoming powder puff games, we will be having practice today after school.  Please meet in the cafeteria.

The Prop and Publicity Crew for Don’t Drink the Water will meet Tuesday, September 25th at 3:00 in the auditorium.  The meeting should be done by 3:30.
