Morning Announcements - Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Today at 1:00, girls SBC golf will be at Fremont Country Club.  At 3:00, boys golf will be at Oak Harbor. At 4:15, tennis will be at Oak Harbor. At 4:30, freshmen volleyball will be at home with Ottawa Hills. At 5:00, JV boys soccer is at home with Lake Millbury. Also at 5:00, JV girls soccer will be at Willard, and at 5:30, JV & varsity volleyball will be at home with Oak Harbor.

The boys varsity soccer team tied Huron last night 1-1 in a hard fought match. Ian Janssen scored the lone goal.

The girls tennis team beat Huron on Monday 5-0. Winning at singles were Mariah Medina, Jayla Medina and Emily Vogus. Winning at doubles were Kaylee Ries/Torri Keyser and Lexi Weyer/Emily Moore. Winning for the JV team were the doubles teams of McKenna Shaffoe/Lindsey Kowalski and Emma Horchler/Eliza Brickner. The team is now 12-2 on the season.

The Edison Girls Varsity soccer team lost to a undefeated Huron team with a score of 2-0 on Monday night. The Lady Chargers will be looking to bounce back on Wednesday with a home match against Vermilion at 5pm. 

The varsity volleyball team beat St. Mary's 25-17, 25-14, 25-12.  Kira Appeman led the team with 14 points, 4 aces, and 8 kills.  Hannah Vitaz and Lilli Schuster each had 7 kills.  Danielle Blantnik had 9 points, Natalie Lambert  served 7 points and had 22 assists, and Grace Houser had 7 points and 10 digs.

The JV volleyball team beat the Panthers 25-18, 25-18.  Reagan King served 9 points and Haley Brown had 6 points.

Attention football fans:  It has been brought to our attention that Toledo Woodward has limited seating on the visitors' side of their stadium.  They are encouraging our fans to bring their own lawn chair to assure they have a seat at the varsity game on Friday, September 21st.  

Still need that special dress for homecoming but just don’t have the money for one?  Look no further Cinderella!  See Mrs. Brown or Mrs. Moyer in the library for more information on how you can get some confidential help!  Do it now, homecoming is right around the corner!

Students interested in joining Key Club will need to pay the $10 dues to the office by Friday.  Students interested running for a Key Club officer position should sign up on the form outside of the auditorium.

ACT Boot Camp is back!   Information is posted around school if you are interested in participating this year.  Registration forms are available in the library, outside of Mrs. Brown's office and you should have received an email.   Please see Mrs. Brown  if you have any questions.

For anyone interested in joining Spanish Club there will  be a meeting on Thursday after school in room 303. The cost is 5 dollars to join.
Juniors & Seniors who received an invite for National Honor Society will be meeting Wednesday September 19th immediately after school in Ms Cull’s room!  If you’re unable to attend, please see Ms Cull ahead of time! 

Thank you to all the students who auditioned or signed up for crew work for Don't Drink the Water.  Wednesday's rehearsal will be for the full cast and crews from 3:00-5:30.

Anyone who would like their name removed from the Homecoming Court ballot must see Mrs. Davis before 1st period this morning.

Attention policy debaters:  Mr. Amstutz will meet with you after school in the library from 3-4:15.  Bring your materials!

Attention again EHS student that would like to compete in Big Questions debate: Mr. Amstutz will run a training session for this new debate event after school on Wednesday, Sept. 19th in the library.  We will meet from 3-4:35 to go over format and distribute cases.  This new debate event can be a solo or a two person team event.

Attention all interact members: we will meet this Wednesday night at 7:00!  Officers should plan on being here at 6:30.  

Book club will meet briefly this Friday, September 21st, in Mrs. Wobser's room after school to discuss access to and pacing of our first read, The Hate U Give, by Angie Thomas.  Mrs. Wobser will need a final count on those interested in reading this first selection by Friday afternoon.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, please see/email Mrs. Wobser to let her know if you would like her to order you a copy of the book.  The price for a paperback edition is $12 new and $7.50 used.  Mrs. Moyer has also ordered 4 copies from the Milan library, which we will have access to in the next few weeks.  Hope to see you there!

There will be a short meeting after school tomorrow for anyone interested in congressional debate.  We will meet in the library.  See Michael Roth you have have any questions or can not make it.
