Morning Announcements - Friday, September 4, 2020

 Happy Birthday to Chase King! 
 
The varsity Charger football team will open their home season tonight at 7:00 with Port Clinton. If you have Buckeye Cable, then you will be able to watch the game on channel 7.  If not, you can stream it through the BCSN app for $12. You have to sign up online. For more information, see Mrs. Miller in the athletic office.  On Saturday morning at 10:00, JV football will be at Port Clinton. 
 
The Edison Chargers Cross Country team kicked off their season strong this past weekend at Seneca East.  The girls brought home a third place trophy led by Abby Lesniak who won the event for the third straight year.  Lindsay Sneider, Paige Schaefer, Peyton Facemire, Kylie McDonnell & Kennedy Baker also came home with individual awards.  The boys placed 4th as a team, and were led by Aidan Anderson's 5th place finish.  Dax Austin and Will Duniver also earned individual awards.  Both Kennedy Baker and Ben Bates showed tremendous improvement from last year, and were named the Edison Runners of the Week.  The team is back in action on Saturday in the Lake Erie Challenge at Vermilion High School.  
 
The Edison Girls Golf Team defeated Willard last night 189 - 216. Leading the way for the Chargers was Lauren Neher with a 39.  Ava Grant also had a great night with a 43.  Other scores for the Chargers were Mallory Meister 53, Madison Butler 54 and Meredith Unger 64.  The Chargers are back in action next Tuesday at home vs. Danbury.
 
The varsity volleyball team lost to Huron in 3 sets.  Kira Appeman had 10 kills and 13 digs, Lilli Schuster had 6 kills and 13 digs, Lydia Woodyard had 4 kills, and Olivia Vitaz chipped in 3 kills and had 11 assists.
 
In varsity tennis, Edison beat Oak Harbor on Thursday 4-1. Winning at singles were Jayla Medina, Torri Keyser and Alli Vogus. Winning at doubles was the team of Lindsey Kowalski and Natalie Costello. The team is now 8-3. Winning for the JV girls tennis last night were singles player McKenna Shaffoe and doubles partners Avery Gibson/Brynleigh Dail.
 
Any student driving to and from school must register your vehicle.  Registration forms may be picked up at the office or on Final Forms.  The cost for the vehicle registration tag is $1 and it must be hung from your rear view mirror.
 
The kitchen has some amazing news to announce! Effective today, ALL students will be able to receive school meals at no charge!! A huge shout out to our USDA for making this possible.  With delicious meals at no charge, check out our ala cart options for purchase! This will continue through the month of December. So put on a warm smile for our lunch ladies and a huge shout out thank you to them for all they do!
 
And a reminder that those who signed up for remote meal pickups - Mrs. Geason will be out there on Monday morning!
 
This opportunity is open to all Juniors and Seniors currently enrolled in a CCP course.  The US State Department offers a "Critical Language Scholarship".  Stop in room 503 to see Madame Parker for more information. 
 
Policy debaters will meet with Mr. Amstutz on Wednesday, Sept 9th after school from 3-4pm.  We will be going over the first 5 affirmative cases.
 
If you are interested in joining the Speech & Debate Club this year, there is a quick informational meeting after school in the auditorium on Thursday, September 10th for the orange group and on Friday, September 11th for the blue group. Plan to attend!
