Morning Announcements - Tuesday, January 14, 2020

At 4:00 today, boys & girls bowling will be at Dynasty Lanes with Willard.

Congratulations to the following Speech & Debate team members who placed at the Berea-Midpark tournament. In Policy Debate, August Berckmueller and Katie Otto placed 5th, Jamie Anderson and Carter Schaefer took 4th, Connor Betts and Otto Berckmueller were 3rd, and Lorain Clawson and Aidan Anderson placed 2nd. Will Duniver placed 6th in IX, and Allyson Gardner placed 2nd in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Miss Baughman will be here after school for practices today. Be sure to sign up for upcoming tournaments as soon as possible!

Congratulations to Leo Schnellinger and the cast and crew of Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit on three outstanding performances in two days.  You should feel pleased with all you accomplished.

The boys varsity basketball team split in action over the weekend with a tough loss at Huron and a win at Vermilion. The boys were led on Saturday by Dylan O'Dell who scored 18 points, Drew Sneider who scored 16 points, and Patrick Amburgy who chipped in 6 points. The boys return to action this Friday at home against Oak Harbor. 

The Lady Chargers moved to 9-5 on the season with a 29-22 win over the Huron Tigers. Scoring for the Chargers were; Aliyah Caporini (11), Lindsay Roberts (6), Jayla Medina (4), Kennedy Keefer (4), Olivia Vitaz (2), and Lydia Woodyard (2). The next game will be home on January 18th against Oak Harbor. JV game will tip-off at 1:00 with Varsity to follow.

Any student who may be aspiring to be Physician Assistant - and would like to be a part of a learning session should see Mrs. Brown at this time. 

Anyone interested in becoming an officer for Ukulele Club, there will be a short meeting today after school in Profe's room.

Edison High School will be having a Military Appreciation Night at the boys' basketball game vs. Oak Harbor on January 17th.  Varsity tip-off is at approximately 7:30 pm.  There will be free admittance for all active military and veterans.  

Are you looking to get involved? We are starting a new Entrepreneurship Club! If you would like to own your own business one day and learn how local business owners became successful this club may be for you! We will be visiting local businesses to learn the ins and outs of how they operate! Please come to our first informational meeting on Tuesday, January 14th at 3:00pm in the Library

Tomorrow after school the Edison Chess Club is meeting in Mr Newton’s room. Even if you’ve never played before - find out what the excitement is about in room 405 every Wednesday after school! 

Those students leaving today to see Every Brilliant Thing at Lake Ridge Academy should load the bus at the end of first period.   A list of students who signed up to attend is posted on the call board.

There will be a short, pre-audition meeting for Honk! Edison's spring musical, this Thursday at 3:00 in the auditorium.  The meeting is not mandatory but is open to all students interested in participating in the musical, both on stage and off.   Auditions will be next week Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:00.

Members of the Mock Trial team are reminded to turn in their permission slips to Mr. Meredith no later than Wednesday and that we will be meeting Wednesday and Thursday after school.

Students: If you are interested in learning more about trades and apprenticeship options for the future, I strongly recommend that you come on this trip.  We will be visiting the Plumbers & Pipefitters training center in Norwalk and the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers training center in Amherst on January 28.  They provide a free lunch and lots of valuable information.
