Happy Birthday to Jacob Moyer & Jake Thompson! 
 
Fun Fact of the day...Eating too many carrots can turn your skin orange. This is called carotenemia, this can happen if you eat three large carrots or more every day for a long period of time. This is because the carrots give the body too much beta-carotene, which causes the changing color of your skin.
 
Congratulations to the Firelands Challenge team for a victory on Tuesday against Bellevue and Western Reserve!  Official scores will be released later this week!
 
The boys varsity basketball lost a tough one last night to Danbury 64-61 as a last second 3 point shot fell just short at the buzzer to tie it. The boys were led by Dylan O'Dell who scored 18 points, Lincoln Meredith who scored 17 points, Luke Bissell who scored 11 points, and Clay Byington who added 9 points. The boys will return to action this Friday when they host Oak Harbor. 
 
There will be a Spanish Honor Society meeting on Tuesday, January 19th at 7:30am in the library. All members and candidates must pay the seven dollars for the National Spanish Exam by Friday, January 22nd.
 
Any girl that is interested in playing Softball, please plan to attend a meeting Friday, after school, in the cafeteria. 
 
If you’re not busy tomorrow after school, make plans to meet in Mr. Newton’s room to play chess! Every Thursday, chess club meets - if you don’t know how to play, no problem, it’s a great way to learn! That’s room 405 after school! Everyone is invited!
 
The Speech & Debate team, Miss Baughman will be available for speech practices all week, and Mr. Amstutz will be here for debate today. If you’re competing in a live event for Berea Midpark be at the high school by 8 am on Saturday morning. The Laurel signup will close Sunday evening so sign up asap. 
 
All Senior and Potential members of National Honor Society - your service hours are due to Mrs. Facemire by 3 pm tomorrow, January 14th.  No late hours will be accepted.  Please see Mrs. Facemire with questions.
 
Drama rehearsal this week is Thursday 3-5:00.  
 
If any student is interested in participating in this year's Thespys competition please contact Mr. Stanforth ASAP. This is an individual events competition sponsored by the international thespian society. There are 15 categories you may participate in including aspects of technical theatre and performance.
 
Attention Public Forum debaters:  Mr. Amstutz will meet with you after school today from 3-3:40 in room 602 to go over ballots, distribute the February African urbanization topic evidence, and go over discrimination in surveillance.
 
French Club and French Honor Society members - there will be a meeting after school Wednesday January 20 in the cafeteria outside Madame's room.   This will be a short meeting, but your input is needed.  See you there!
 
There will be a meeting today after school in Coach Meredith’s room for Boys Tennis for the upcoming spring season. If you cannot attend please let Coach Meredith or Coach Newt know.
