Morning Announcements - Thursday, October 7, 2021

Happy Birthday today and to those celebrating this weekend -  Kennedy Baker, Charlotte Gall, Cory Preston, Zach Rang, Hayden Fry, Cayli Kegarise, Aviera Hamilton and Daniel Beckley!
 
Girls tennis is at sectionals today. At 4:30, freshman volleyball is home with Ashland followed up with Jv and varsity playing Willard. On Friday night at 7:00, varsity football is at Oak Harbor. On Saturday morning, cross country is at the Dan Olien Invite in New London. At 10:00, Jv football is at home with Oak Harbor, and at noon, girls varsity soccer is at Vermilion.
 
The Edison Girls soccer team got a win over Tiffin Columbian by the score of 4 to 2 as they celebrated their Senior Night. Abigail Hearing led the scoring for the Lady Chargers with two goals on the night and Ruby Knowles and Alyssa Rice each had one goal apiece. The Lady Chargers would like to dedicate this win to their seniors Madison Chaput, Claire Treece, Ruby Knowles, Megan Coleman, and Lauren Craig. The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday with an away match at Vermilion at 12pm. 
 
The boys varsity soccer team put in a dominating performance last night by beating Perkins 3-1. Goals scored by Garret McQuillen, Isaac Sloan, and Jace Jermeay.

Mr. Storts will be holding an optional tutoring session for Biology students today after school in his room until 3:20.
 
The athletic office is selling pre-sale tickets for the varsity football game at Oak Harbor Friday night.  All pre-sale tickets are $5 while tickets at the gate are $7.  Tickets will only be on sale through 3:30 on Thursday, as there is no school on Friday.  
 
There will be a freshman class meeting with a Jostens representative on Monday at 1:30 pm in the auditorium. The seniors will be meeting with the Jostens rep at 2:25 pm. in the auditorium.
 
Congratulations on our September Athletes of the Month! Alli Vogus, Torri Keyser and Matthew Pounds.  These student athletes have been nominated by their coaches:

Alli Vogus and Torri Keyser are both 17-0 on the season. This past weekend the two both won championships at both one and two singles At the the SBC Tournament and Alli was named Outstanding Performer by the SBC coaches. The dual will team up this week and play doubles together for the upcoming Sectional Tournament. Way to go ladies on a great regular season!  Matthew Pounds is a great team leader for our younger golfers. He is very encouraging, but can get players to get to work if he feels they are not practicing right. He recently earned 1st team All SBC. Please stop into the athletic office and pick up your awards.
 
Attention Set, Light and Sound crew for the fall production of Spirit of Christmas. We will work Monday evening from 6:30 - 7. Please let Mrs. Facemire know if you can not make it.
 
Are you looking for something fun to do every Wednesday after school? Do you enjoy winning competitions and being the best of a club? If so, join us for Chess Club every Wednesday in Mr. Newton's room starting October 20! We hope to see you there!
 
Attention any boys in grades 9-12 interested in playing basketball this winter. There is a sign-up sheet in the Athletic Office today through next Tuesday. Contact Coach Hammond with any questions.
 
A reminder to all students: Kalahari will be here during your lunch periods today. They will have a table set up with applications and information about current positions that they are hiring for. Not only are they hiring for entry level positions, they offer internships, sales and management positions for those of you that are considering careers in Hospitality after graduation.
 
Interact will meet next Wednesday October 13th at 7:00pm in the Innovation room. Please make plans to attend if your a member or if you’d still like to join, stop by the library and see Mrs. Moyer.
