Happy Birthday Wade Ruggles, Gunner Bunting and Lydia McQuillen!
The varsity baseball team won their 14th straight sectional championship by beating Northwood 8-3 on Friday. Dominic Dymond led the offense with 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Bryson Wittmer hit a double and had 2 RBIs. Clint Finnen, Carson Smith, Hayden Fry, Blake Simon, and Davin Wendt all singled. Smith, Fry, and Wendt had RBIs. Ben Bates pitched 6 innings with 8 strikeouts to get the win. Aiden Drake pitched a scoreless 7th inning. The team's district semi-finals game is on Thursday at Shelby at 2 pm.
The softball team defeated Fremont Ross 10-5 on Friday in their final game of the year. Delaney Lococo and Peyton Taylor both had 2 hits. Stella Brown hit an inside the park homerun and Sophia Guerra got the win in the circle.
The Lady Chargers track team finished 9th this weekend at the District Meet.
District placers for the Lady Chargers included; Jillian McDonnell 8th in high jump, Lydia McQuillen 8th in disc, the 4x8 team of Weilnau, Chaput, Anderson, and Facemire finished 5th, Ingrid Berckmueller finished 5th in the 100m and 400m. Advancing to the Regional Meet are Grace Anderson in the 1600m and 3200m, the 4x2 team of Weilnau, Corfman, Vitaz, and Berckmueller, and the 4x4 team of Weilnau, Corfman, Berckmueller, and Facemire.
The boys team also finished 9th at Districts. Trayvon Williams was the District Champion in the long jump, 2nd in the 100m, and 3rd in the 200m and will advance to Regionals in all 3 events. Reeder also advanced to the Regional Meet placing 3rd in the 400m. Kellen McDonnell placed 8th in the 3200, Wes Kryger placed 6th in the pole vault and the 4x800 relay team of McDonnell, Reeder, KIng, and Facemire placed 8th for the meet.
Firelands Challenge tryouts will be held after school at Edison High School on May 18th in Mrs. Roan's room 301 and May 23rd in Mrs. Facemire's room (401). Any student who will be in grades 9-12 next year and attending Edison full-time may try out. Please see the email Mrs. Roan sent out for additional details. Thank you and good luck!
