Morning Announcements - Tuesday, May 3, 2022
At 4:15, tennis is at home with St. Mary’s. At 4:30, boys & girls track are at Perkins for the Erie County track invite. At 4:45 Jv baseball is at Lakota, and at 4:45, varsity softball is home with Madison.
 
The boys tennis team beat Tiffin Calvert on Monday 5-0. Winning at singles were Parker Campbell, Noah Proctor and Otto Berckmueller. Winning at doubles were the teams of Jeff Snyder/Collin Smith and Kris Maschari/Jonah Main. The team is in the park later today against SMCC.  Last night the JV tennis doubles team of Devon McLaren and Korrigan Sanders won a best of three sets vs. Tiffin Calvert. Let's continue those scores tonight!
 
Over the weekend, the varsity softball team beat Columbian 20-5 and 8-2. Kira Appeman hit for the cycle in the first game, and collecting home runs were Appeman, Olivia Vitaz, and Reagan King.  On Monday, the Lady Chargers beat Port Clinton 10-1 and 15-3. Kira Appeman hit 2 triples in the first game, and the team had 14 hits the second game. Having 2 hits apiece were Appeman, Audrey Linder, Olivia Vitaz, Reagan King, Kalli Quillen, and Sophia Guerra.
 
The varsity baseball team improved to 12-6 on the year with an 11-1 six inning win against Port Clinton.  Blake Simon pitched a complete game, giving up 7 hits and striking out two.  Hayden Fry, Noah Smith, Bryce Michaelis, and Xander Danner all had 3 hits.  Smith added 3 RBI's, while Danner and Clint Finnen each had 2 RBI's.
 
Attention all students! It’s that time of the year to nominate a teacher who has made an impact on you! The Milan Rotary & Interact clubs are sponsoring the Golden Apple Award that goes to a teacher who has not won previously, has been a teacher in the Edison system for 3 years & made a difference. You can nominate ANY teacher from the elementary, middle or high school.  Applications are in the library! Please take a moment to fill out an application before Monday, May 16th! 
 
Reminder to all Boys Soccer players not involved in a spring sport that weight training begins today at 3:15 pm. Please make sure you bring running shoes and a sweatshirt.
 
Attention Drama Club members, our awards night is tonight at 7:30.  Students must be present or notify Mr. Stanforth in advance to receive their awards.  Please bring shampoo to donate to the Huron County Non-food bank. 
 
The junior class is now taking song requests for Prom which is May 14th. If you have any requests, there is a sheet in the library. Song requests will be accepted through Thursday May 7th! 
 
Camp Invention will be hosting Chipotle night this Saturday May 7th from 4 -8pm in Sandusky! Please consider supporting the group fundraiser. You have to eat dinner!  When ordering online use code 666VQYW  Thank you!  
 
Anyone interested in running for a class office position or student council may pick up an information sheet from the high school office. Election details were also emailed to students.  Candidates for office must meet the criteria listed on the information sheet.  Class elections will be completed digitally this year through a Google Form ballot. Speeches and petitions are due this Friday.
 
Attention Juniors and Seniors…today is the last day to purchase Prom tickets! Tickets are available during your lunch period for $40 each!  
 
Summer job on Kelley’s Island sound interesting?  4-H has some fun summer jobs available Stop by the library for more information! 
 
Edison Elementary is looking for summer volunteers to help with Safety Town! Safety town will be held the week of June 13 - 16th from 8-10:00.  This would be great volunteer hours for any student here at Edison.  Sign up sheet is in the library. Mrs. McCoy & Ms Meredith look forward to seeing you! 
 
Attention Junior National Honor Society members. Our last monthly meeting will be right after school in Mrs. Facemire's room. It will be very short so please be on time.
