Morning Announcements - Thursday, April 28, 2022
Today at 4:15 tennis is home with Willard!
 
This is progress report week! Make sure you are keeping up to date with your school work along with testing!  It’s going to be a great week! 

 A reminder that 4th period is after lunch all week!
 
The JV baseball team defeated Lakota last night 5-2.  Davin Wendt led the way on the mound by striking out 10 batters and only allowing 2 hits. Aiden Drake, Davin Wendt, Carson Smith, James Bickley, and Aaron Febbo had RBI's in the win. They return to action Friday against Huron. 
 
The boys tennis team lost to Port Clinton on Wednesday 2-3. Winning for the Chargers were the doubles teams of Jeff Snyder/Collin Smith and Kris Maschari/Jonah Main. The team is home today against Willard. 
 
The varsity baseball team beat Willard 6-0.  Blake Simon pitched a complete game 6 hitter with 5 strikeouts.  Thomas Simon, Dominic Dymond, and Clint Finnen each had 2 hits.  Noah Smith, Max Hoover, Xander Danner, and Hayden Fry all singled.  Blake Simon, Hoover, and Finnen had 1 RBI.  Finnen scored 2 runs, while Hayden Fox, Thomas Simon, Danner, and Fry each scored 1 run.
 
Varsity softball swept a doubleheader last night vs Willard beating the Flashes 18-2 and 11-0. In the first game Kira Appeman got the win on the mound and went 4-5 at the plate including a double and HR with 4 RBI’s Also having multiple hits was Olivia Vitaz, Audrey Linder and Elena McCord. Vitaz and McCord both clocked doubles with McCord knocking in 5 runs.   In the nightcap, Sophia Guerra threw a 2 hit shutout. She also provided a 2 -3 day at the plate. Olivia Vitaz hit another double while Audrey Linder and Reagan King both had multiple hits. King hit a walk off 3 run blast to end the second game. 
 
Attention Drama Club members, our awards night is Tuesday May 3 at 7:30.  Students must be present or notify Mr. Stanforth in advance to receive their awards.  Please bring shampoo to donate to the Huron County Non-food bank. 
 
The junior class is now taking song requests for Prom which is May 14th. If you have any requests, there is a sheet in the library. Song requests will be accepted through Thursday May 7th! 
 
Anyone interested in running for a class office position or student council may pick up an information sheet from the high school office. Election details were also emailed to students.  Candidates for office must meet the criteria listed on the information sheet.  Class elections will be completed digitally this year through a Google Form ballot.
 
Edison Show Choir is so pleased to announce their spring production of The Little Mermaid with performances this Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st at 7pm in the auditorium. Tickets are $3 for students/senior citizens and $5 for adults. Please come out and have some under the sea fun! 
 
Prom tickets are available now through Tuesday, May 3rd during your lunch period! Tickets are $40 each - but remember, that includes the dance, dinner, beverages and also dessert! It’s time you ask that date to save the date, Saturday May 14th and meet us at Ten Fifty-Event center for an unforgettable night! 
 
This week TLC is bringing awareness to the Huron County Humane Society in an attempt to raise funds and supplies for the shelter.  TLC is asking for donations that include supplies such as paper towels, bleach, dog toys, cat toys, and pet treats. For every donation, your name will be entered into a drawing for potential prizes. Please drop donations off in the library and fill out a name ticket. This drive will be held through May 2nd. If you have any questions, please contact Stella Shover.
 
Attention all students, if you're sitting in study hall with nothing to do, ask Mrs. Cooper if you can make your way to the lost and found! There are so many sweatshirts, travel mugs, and books down there! Please check to make sure you didn’t accidentally forget - umm, I mean misplaced some items.  If you don’t claim them, they will find a new home after Monday May 2nd! 
 
Edison Elementary is looking for summer volunteers to help with Safety Town! Safety town will be held the week of June 13 - 16th from 8-10:00.  This would be great volunteer hours for any student here at Edison.  Sign-up sheet is in the library. Mrs. McCoy & Ms Meredith look forward to seeing you!
 
This Sunday, from 1-3:00 at Edison Park there will be a celebration of life for our friend Kya who passed away last year.  We are hoping that you will be able to come and celebrate Kya with us. If you have any questions, see Madi Corapi! If you knew Kya, come celebrate. In support of suicide prevention awareness, please wear orange, blue or red to school this Friday, as these were Kya’s favorite colors. 
 
Attention Junior National Honor Society members. Our last monthly meeting will be Tuesday May 3rd right after school in Mrs. Facemire's room. It will be very short so please be on time. As a reminder, you are only allowed to miss 1 meeting before you are asked to leave NHS. See Mrs. Facemire if you have any questions.
