Morning Announcements - Monday, January 9, 2023

The Edison Writing Club is meeting on Monday, January 9th from 3-4 pm in Room 201.  Please bring paper and a pen/pencil.  See Mr. Ceccoli if you have any questions.
 
The girls and guys bowled well Saturday at SBC with both teams placing in 2nd place.
Pacing the ladies was Lydia McQuillen with a 500 series and also placing 4th in the Ind. Medalist and Addyson Puraty with 458. Leading the boys was Hayden Lewis with 685 series and placing 2nd in the Ind. Medalist! Ayden Houser bowled well with a 550 series!
 
The Charger bowling teams, both ladies and guys, both came out on top with nice wins vs Lakota last week. Leading the girls was Addison Puraty and Lydia McQuillen with 251 series and right behind was Rory Conrad with 243. Leading the boys was Hayden Lewis with an outstanding 472 series and Wyatt Ball with 303.
 
The boys varsity basketball team could not overcome a slow start Saturday night against Vermilion and lost 57-48. The boys were led in scoring by Kayden Bourget, who had 27 points. Bryson Wittmer chipped in 6 points, and Jack Brown added 5 points. The boys return to action this Friday when we host Huron. 
 
Congratulations to the Edison Speech and Debate team which placed 10th out of 27 competing teams from across the State of Ohio. Individual winners for Edison include: Noah Proctor and Sara Gates who placed 1st in Policy Debate and have qualified for the State Tournament.  Brienna Marcy and Lily Kreglow placed 2nd in Policy Debate. Ingrid Berckmueller placed 3rd in Program of Oral Interpretation and has qualified now to the State Tournament.
The Duo Interpretation team of Jeff Esser and Ilah Reynolds placed 4th. Grace Anderson took home 5th place honors in Declamation and George Rhodes placed 6th in Congressional Debate in a very crowded field of competitors.   The team next travels to Hathaway Brown School on Saturday to compete in Speech and congressional events.  Mr. Amstutz will be at Edison on Wednesday and Friday to rehearse. Register for the tournament and sign up for practice times on the Speech and Debate bulletin board outside the Main Office by Wednesday noon.
