Morning Announcements - Wednesday, May 20, 2026

The EMS cafeteria will be serving a crispy drumstick with a pretzel rod, or Daily Grab & Go, potato wedges, fruit choice, and milk for lunch today.

The weather report for today is cloudy with a 49% chance of rain and only a high of 54. Wow! What a change from yesterday.

Today’s trivia question is: Which Latin dance originated in Cuba?

We will now announce the winners of today’s Calendar Raffle. Today’s May 20 package A consists of a $50 Red Shamrock Gift Card. The winner is Russ Logan and this ticket was sold by Bryce Flowers.

Today’s May 20 package B consists of a $50 Mastercard Gift Card. The winner of this prize is Emily Bartlett and the ticket was sold by Liam Weaver.

Any 8th grade student who is running for a class office or student council and has not handed in their petition along with a copy of their speech needs to see Mrs. Bishop during Win today. Election Day is tomorrow Thursday, May 21.

The 6th grade class is going to receive their ice cream sundae reward for winning Penny Wars.

Any 8th grade boy or girl interested in going out for the high school golf teams please see Mr. Fischer in the fifth grade hallway to pick up a schedule this week.

If you're a 5th-grade student interested in trying out for the 6th-grade academic challenge team for next school year, please complete the Google form emailed to you by Friday, May 22.  If you have questions, see Mrs. Fisher in 6th grade.   

Student Council 8 th grade representatives are putting things together for the 8th Grade Dance to be held on Wednesday, June 3 from 6:30 -8:30 pm in the cafeteria. Listen in tomorrow morning for more details.

As the weather gets warmer, please remember to follow the school dress code. Tops must cover the mid-section at all times, even when arms are raised. Tops and dresses must have sleeves and appropriately cover cleavage. Shorts, skirts, and dresses must extend to the tip of your fingers when arms are outstretched at your sides. Students not in dress code will be asked to call home for more appropriate clothing. Repeated dress code violations will result in detentions. See Ms. Parker if you have any questions.

The trivia answer is that the salsa is the Latin dance that originated in Cuba?
