The varsity baseball team beat Colonel Crawford 6-5 in an 8 inning thriller to win the district championship. After spotting the Eagles 3 early runs, the Chargers began to chip away at the lead. Luke Bissell had an RBI single in the 4th and Noah Smith followed with 2 RBI single in the 5th to tie the game. Clint Finnen singled in the 6th to give the team their first lead at 4-3. After Colonel Crawford tied the game in the bottom of the 6th, the Chargers took the lead for good by scoring 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning. Joe Pennell induced a bases loaded ground out to seal the win.
Blake Simon led the team with 3 hits and was also outstanding on the mound, giving up 6 hits and no earned runs in 5 innings. Clint Finnen, Thomas Simon, Luke Bissell, and Xander Danner each had 2 hits.
The team plays in the regional semi-finals on Thursday at Elida at 2 pm.
