Notifications via SMS Messaging

If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to complete the simple opt-in process for text messaging below. The opt-in process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete.

SIMPLY TEXT YES TO THE NUMBER 87569.

You will know that you were successful if you receive the following reply message: “You are subscribed with Edison Local School District. Text STOP to cancel or HELP for information." If you receive an error message, it is likely that you must contact your carrier to enable text messaging. To opt out of all text messages from BrightArrow, reply with STOP to the opt-in message. If you are uncertain as to whether or not you have already opted in, simply repeat the opt-in process above. There is no harm in sending the opt-in message more than once.

When parents provide a new wireless number to the school (common at the beginning of the school year), you may receive a text message requesting that you opt in to receive important information via text message. The message you receive will be similar to the following: "Edison Local School District would like to continue sending you text messages. To receive these messages, please reply YES." Again, we encourage you to reply YES.

Please note, although Edison Local Schools does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges. Emergency messages are always sent with all three message types (email, text, and voice calls) and to every contact number we have available for you even if you have opted out. We cannot change this. Emergency messages will be labeled as such so you will know it is an actual emergency.

Entrepreneur Day at Edison Middle School is back!!

This event has raised over $28,000 dollars to various charities and individuals over the years. This year all money raised will be presented to The Maxton Soviak Memorial Foundation. The money will be used to help secure a service dog for a veteran in need. Please help make this Entrepreneur Day the best ever by allowing your middle school child the opportunity to bring in money on Wednesday, May 25th. Our 5th graders are grouped into teams and have been working hard. They are eager to see how much they can earn with their creative products and ideas. There will be lots of great crafts, food, games and raffles in the Middle School gym from 12:15-2:15 on Wednesday, May 25th. The public is also welcome to come in and purchase the items that are being sold. Come support our students and a great cause!

Edison Facilities Community Survey Results:

Many of your recall taking a survey a few weeks ago regarding the future of our facilities. Over 1089 community members responded to the survey and we were able to provide the findings to our board and Facilities Advisory Committee. You told us that the most important factors to consider for the future of our facilities were (in order of importance): 1. providing the best learning/teaching environments; 2. overall cost of the project; 3. Finding a plan the community could support. The topline survey results can be found here https://research.zarca.com/zRMx/Bar_graph.aspx?share=ZXR2R5N6G

Edison School Board Approves Facilities Master Plan

As many of you may know, we have been discussing the future of our facilities since before the pandemic. We recently convened a Facility Advisory Committee made up of local residents. Last week, this Committee voted to recommend building a new PreK – 5th grade facility on the site of the current middle school in Berlin Heights and construct a 6th – 8th grade building at the site of the High School in Milan Township, while making relevant renovations to Edison High School. At the April 19 th Edison School Board meeting, the Board unanimously voted to move forward with the Master Plan recommended by the Facility Advisory Committee. Next, we plan to convene a finance committee that would discuss funding options and the potential of a bond issue come November. 2022-23 Kindergarten Registration is NOW OPEN!

Kindergarten registration will be completed electronically using the FinalForms program.  You can register your child starting Monday, April 4.  If your child DID NOT attend Little Chargers Preschool please go to https://edisonmilan-oh.finalforms.com and click NEW ACCOUNT under the PARENT ICON.  Follow the prompts to electronically register your child. You will need to upload a copy of your child’s birth certificate, social security card,  your proof of residency, and custodial court documents (if applicable) during the registration process.  If your child DID attend Little Chargers Preschool please go to https://edisonmilan-oh.finalforms.com and login to your current FinalForms account.  You will be directed to update and sign the 2022-23 student forms for your child. Please register in FinalForms ASAP with an email address you regularly monitor so that we can contact you with any announcements.

Electronic registration and in-person screening are two separate events. The screening dates for upcoming Kindergarten students will be May 31 - June 2. In order to sign your child up for a kindergarten screening appointment please go to https://forms.gle/qhz62gf7q7dM9gcz7.  Every child MUST sign-up for a kindergarten screening appointment.

Your child must be 5 years old by August 1, 2022, to be eligible for Kindergarten.

Non-residents wishing to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year should complete an open enrollment application and register in FinalForms. Open enrollment applications are available on the district website. You should complete the open enrollment application and sign your child up for screening when it opens, but the final approval for open enrollment will be determined by the student count capacity determined after registration is complete. Make sure you also have your child signed up for registration and screening in the district where you reside in case capacity is met and your child cannot be accepted.

If you have any questions about Kindergarten registration or screening, please contact David Hermes at [email protected]

If you know any other Edison Local School District parents who need to register their child for Kindergarten, please pass along this information.
