Elementary Schedule Change

This notice is to inform you that there will be a slight schedule change for Edison Elementary for the 2019-20 school year.  Starting this year, students must be in their homeroom no later than 7:50 a.m. In the past students had to be in their homeroom by 8:05 a.m. before they were considered tardy.  This schedule change will help us gain 15 minutes per day of instructional time that we feel will greatly benefit our students.  Parents may drop their child off starting at 7:40 a.m.  We will still offer Morning Care for all Kindergarten-3rd grade students from 7:00-7:40 a.m.  If you need to use this service the cost will remain $1.50 per day.  This schedule change will be discussed at orientation on August 19th but we wanted to make you aware so you could prepare.  We look forward to seeing everyone in two weeks!

Preschool - Morning Care

Attention Preschool Families:

As indicated in your preschool information packet at screening this week, we regret to inform you that Edison Local Schools will not be able to provide Morning Care services to students enrolled in Little Chargers Preschool.  This decision was not made lightly, but done so in accordance with state requirements for licensing of such programs.  We understand that this will have an adverse impact on some of our families, but please know that we have examined this issue from all possible angles before coming to the conclusion that it is not feasible to offer this service for preschool students.  In the end, we must comply with state licensing requirements in order to continue operating our regular preschool program.

We also understand that the 2019-2020 school year brings many changes to the Little Chargers Preschool, particularly for those families who have current and former students in our program.  As with any changes, there have been and will be growing pains.  However, all changes have come as part of comprehensive review of state requirements and in the interest of maximizing and improving instruction for our preschool students.

Your child's safety and education remain our top priority, and will continue to guide all future decisions for the program.  If at any time you would like to ask questions or discuss concerns, the best venue to do so is by contacting the school directly at the following:

Trees - 3rd Grade and & Quarry Hill

Farmer Ben (during our 2nd busiest time of year next to Harvest) carving out time (i.e. midnight on most weeknights) to prepare and host nearly 93 third graders from the farms local school district who are participating in a special program to learn about post high school vocations and potential careers as an alternative to attending college. This is the third activity in the year long suite of activities Ben has committed to teaching and educating on orcharding. He even had these signs especially made for them for today’s tree planting class (farmer Brooke and little farmer Tucker gave farm tours). What a superstar leader. Good work @applefarmerben I know what an impact you are making on these kids!!! @ Quarry Hill Orchards More +
