Edison Invitation Speech and Debate Tournament

Congratulations to the Edison Speech and Debate team which placed 4th out of 19 participating schools at the Edison Invitation Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday.  The following students placed for Edison:


Noah Proctor and Jeff Esser - 1st place in Duo Interpretation

Noah Proctor - 1st place in Program of Oral Interpretation

Lily Kreglow and Sara Gates - 3rd place in Policy Debate

Jeff Esser - 3rd place in Humorous Interpretation

Scarlett Bennett and Abby Saflund - 4th place in Policy Debate

Ilah Reynolds - 6th place in Humorous Interpretation

Jonah England - 7th place in congressional debate


The team next travels to Sylvania Northview on November 11th.  T-shirt orders are due to Ms Morris or Mr. Amstutz by Friday, November 4th.  Sign up for the Sylvania tournament and the Nov 18th Mentor tournament closes on Friday of this week!

Speech and Debate 2023 - 2024

Attention any EHS student who would like to compete this year with the Speech and Debate team.  There will be an informational meeting on Thursday, August 31 immediately after school in the Innovation Room.  Mr. Amstutz and Ms. Morris will explain all the competitive events and begin distributing pieces to practice. Policy debaters will receive their evidence packets also on this year's topic on economic inequality and redistributing wealth in the U.S. Our season begins in 6 weeks, so if you are interested in this activity, please try to attend.
