What Do We Do?
The Student Services department at Edison Local Schools is responsible for the oversight of all special education programs in the district for students aged 3 through 21. Students who are found eligible for special education may receive academic and/or behavioral interventions with an intervention specialist, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and a variety of other services designed to meet the unique needs of individual students. Additionally, the department also oversees the evaluation and development of Section 504 plans for students who may need accommodations due to a mental or physical impairment.
Other areas handled by our department include oversight of the district’s preschool program, services for students experiencing homelessness, students in foster care, and supporting families in accessing community resources.
Feel free to contact any member of our team with questions about services and support for students and families! ~ Kristina Polachek, Director
