Boys/Girls Cross Country - State

Grace Anderson and Kellen McDonnell toed the line with the best in the State on Saturday for the State Championship in Fortress Obetz.  Kellen passed 9 runners in the last mile of the race and finished 78th in the State!  Grace moved a few spots higher on the podium this year, finishing in 13th place, which earned her All-Ohio honors for the second straight year.  This caps off a great season for the Chargers, with a bright future for both teams.  Just a reminder that our banquet is on Wednesday at 6:30 in the Auditorium.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Regionals

The Charger Cross Country teams brought out their best in a tough region. Kellen McDonnell ran a huge PR of 16:42 to qualify as an individual for the State meet. Jackson Michaelis broke into the 16's for the first time, and Everett Gfell, Ricky Oliver and Quentin Cox all ended the season with their fastest times. Grace Anderson re-broke her sophomore school record running 18:42 and finishing an impressive 4th place to qualify for the State meet. Peyton Facemire and Lily Risner ran their best times. This marked the last time on the course for Peyton Facemire and Ava Miller. Thank you for your dedication and leadership to keeping our tradition of excellence going strong. The State meet will be held at Fortress Obetz on Saturday, with Kellen running at 11:00 and Grace at 11:45 AM.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Districts

It was a great day in Galion on Saturday for the Cross Country District Championship. Grace Anderson, Peyton Facemire, Jackson Michaelis, Kellen McDonnell and Everett Gfell all qualified as individuals to the regional meet. Their teammates ran great too, with the boys finishing 3rd and girls finishing 4th. This qualifies both teams for the regional meet. Everett Gfell and Quentin Cox ran their best times. Regionals will be held on Saturday in Tiffin, with a trip to the State meet on the line. Go Chargers!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - SBC

Both the boys and the girls cross country teams finished runner up in the SBC Championship on Saturday. Kellen McDonnell was the individual champion in the boys race.  Both Jackson Michaelis and Grace Anderson finished 2nd overall, while Everett Gfell and Peyton Facemire earned first team All-Conference.  Mary Anderson and Ava Miller earned second team All-Conference. Quentin Cox, Logan Facemire, Eli Ruffo, Gabby Mesenburg, Nikki Vesely and Bri Leimbach ran their best time of the season. The road to State begins this Saturday with the District Championships in Galion.

Boys/Girls Cross Country vs. Norwalk

The Cross Country teams ran a 2 mile race here at the high school against Norwalk. The Chargers showed their leg speed and are ready for the Conference Championship meet this weekend. Jackson Michaelis and Kellen McDonnell went One-Two as the boys beat Norwalk  41-18. Grace Anderson finished 2nd as the girls lost to Norwalk by 7 points. The SBC Championships are this Saturday in Tiffin, where the girls are looking to win their 7th straight title, and the boys look to start a new streak!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Cloverleaf Invitational

The Cross Country teams ran against some tough Division 1 competition on Saturday at the Todd Clark Cloverleaf Invitational. Grace Anderson finished 4th overall to lead the girls to a 14th place finish. Personal Records came from Mary Anderson, Lily Risner and Gabby Mesenburg. Kellen McDonnell finished 38th overall to lead the boys to a 15th place finish. Personal Records came from Jackson Michaelis, Everett Gfell, Ricky Oliver, Chase King and Logan Facemire. Both teams are off this weekend, and will race next at Edison High School on October 1st.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Galion Invitational

Both of the Charger Cross Country teams finished 6th place at the Galion Cross Country Festival on Saturday. Grace Anderson finished in 4th and Maylie Weilnau 40th to lead the girls. Bri Leimbach ran her PR. Jackson Michaelis finished 11th and Kellen McDonnell 16th to lead the boys. Gavin Mesenburg and Logan Facemire ran their PR's.  Both teams will run at Cy Hewit Park in the Todd Clark Cloverleaf Invitational on Saturday morning.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Seneca East Stars, Stripes, and Lights Invitational

Patriotism and Charger Pride were high on Saturday night under the lights at Seneca East's Stars, Stripes, and Lights Night Race. 
 
The ladies won the team championship and the boys finished 7th out of 18 teams.
 
Grace Anderson won the D2 race in a time of 18:57 which is a new sophomore school record. Other award winners on the night included Peyton Facemire (4th), Maylie Weilnau (10th), Lily Rinser(21st), Jackson Michaelis (8th), & Kellen McDonnell (14th). 
 
Maylie Weilnau, Lily Risner, , Kaira Gulett, Rory Conrad, Nikki Vesely, Gabby Mesenburg, Kellen McDonnell, Colin Butler, Henry Bates, Chase King and Quentin Cox all ran lifetime PR's. Both teams will run at the Galion Cross Country Festival on Saturday.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Seneca East Tiger Classic

The Charger Cross Country teams ran against some of the best teams in the state over the weekend at the Seneca East Tiger Classic. Out of 21 teams, the girls finished in 5th place, led by Grace Anderson in 2nd, Peyton Facemore in 10th and Maylie Weilnau in 24th. Lily Risner and Bri Leimbach also ran their personal records.
 
Jackson Michaelis finished in 18th to lead the boys to an 8th place finish. The boys came ready to run as Everett Gfell, Ricky Oliver, Chase King, Quentin Cox, Jace Danda, Henry Bates, Colin Butler, Logan Facemire and Eli Rufo all ran their lifetime best times.  
 
Both teams will return to Seneca East on September 10th for the Stars, Stripes and Lights night race.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - OHSAA Pre-season Invitational

The Cross Country teams kicked off their season at the OHSAA Pre-season Invitational held on the state meet course at Fortress Obetz. Out of 280 runners Grace Anderson finished 5th and Peyton Facemire finished 17th to lead the team to an 8th place finish out of 31 competitive teams.  Jackson Michaelis led the boys team finishing 44th out of 324 runners. The teams will be back in action at the Seneca East Tiger Classic this Saturday.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - State

Grace Anderson toed the line at the State meet on Saturday with 181 of the best runners in the State of Ohio.  When the gun went off, she went with the front pack of girls, and stayed right there with them, finishing in 17th place.  Grace ran a new personal best time of 18:47, breaking her previous freshman record by 22 seconds.  This record setting performance earned her a spot on the podium and All-Ohio status.  Congratulations, Grace on a great ending to a great season!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Regionals

In Regional Cross Country action, Grace Anderson ran an impressive race in the mud, finishing in 5th place and qualifying for the the State Meet! The girls team finished in 7th place, ending their successful season. On the boys side, Aidan Anderson finished 36th as an individual. This brings and end to Aidan and Kennedy Baker's Cross Country careers. Thank you both for you dedication and leadership to the program!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Districts

It was another great Saturday for the Lady Charger Cross Country team. Grace Anderson finished 5th overall running a 19:09 setting a new Freshman School Record! Peyton Facemire finished an impressive 12th overall as they led the girls team to a 3rd place finish in the District to qualify for the Regional Meet next Saturday in Tiffin. Ava Miller and Mary Anderson also ran their personal best times. 
 
On the boys side, Aidan Anderson finished in 8th place to qualify for Regionals as an Individual. Ben Bates and Everett Gfell ran their personal best times as the boys team finished 6th. Thanks to Bryce Michaelis and Jeff Snyder for their years of leadership and dedication to the program!

Girls Cross Country - SBC Champions

The Lady Charger Cross Country team made history on Saturday, winning an SBC record 6th straight team title!  Grace Anderson finished runner-up and Peyton Facemire finished 7th to earn First-Team honors.  Kennedy Baker & Zoey Corfman earned Second Team honors.  Ava Miller, Mary Anderson and Maylie Weilnau finished as our top 7 Chargers, all beating the competition's top 5 runners to help secure the victory.  Shout out to Lindsay Sneider, Isabella Linder & Brenna Chasney for 4 years of dedication and success in the program.

Boys Cross Country - SBC Runner-Up

On the boys side, Aidan Anderson, Jackson Michaelis & Bryce Michaelis finished 2nd, 3rd & 4th to earn First-Team honors, leading the boys to a Runner-Up finish in the conference.  Jeff Snyder, Everett Gfell, Ben Bates & Gavin Mesenburg all ran their personal best times.  Both teams will be competing in the District meet on Saturday in Galion.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - New London Invitational

The cross country teams ran a two-mile tune up race Saturday at New London. Bryce Michaelis led the boys team with Aidan Anderson also finishing in the top 15. The girls brought home the championship scoring 29 points, beating the next closest team by an impressive 47 points! Grace Anderson finished runner up. Runners finishing in the top 15 included Peyton Facemire, Kennedy Baker, Zoey Corfman, Maylie Weilnau, Mary Anderson, Ava Miller and Lindsay Sneider. The teams would love to have you cheer them on this coming weekend at the SBC meet in Tiffin. The girls will be going for an unprecedented 6th straight title at 11:15 and the boys will go off at 11:45. Hope to see you there!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Cloverleaf Invitational

The Cross Country teams put together many great performances against many Division 1 schools at the Todd Clark Cloverleaf Invitational Saturday. Grace Anderson led the way with an impressive 8th place individual finish, helping the girls team finish 7th overall. Peyton Facemire, Kennedy Baker, Zoey Corfman, Ava Miller & Mary Anderson all ran their lifetime bests. On the boys side, Aidan Anderson led the team to a 13th place finish. Jackson Michaelis broke into the 17's for the first time, and Jeff Snyder broke in the 19's for the first time. Everett Gfell also ran his personal best. Both teams will be off this weekend, and return to action for their final meet of the regular season on October 9th at New London.

The Charger Cross Country teams ran against numerous state ranked teams this weekend at Galion.  Grace Anderson's impressive 4th place finish helped lead the ladies to a 7th place finish.  Aidan Anderson led the guys team to a 13th place finish.  Gavin Mesenburg, Alex Olmstead, Jace Danda & Xander Gearheart all ran their fastest time of the season.  Both teams will be competing in Cloverleaf at the Todd Clark Invitational next Saturday morning.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Seneca East Invitational

The Charger Cross Country teams have run through the heat against some great competition the past two weeks. They opened up the season on the State Meet course near Columbus last week. Seniors Kennedy Baker and Bryce Michaelis led their teams to 4th and 13th place finishes among the Division 2 schools. This past weekend the Lady Chargers were the team champions at Seneca East. Grace Anderson led the Chargers, with Peyton Facemire, Kennedy Baker and Lindsay Sneider bringing home hardware. The boys team finished in 5th place, led by Aidan Anderson. Bryce Michaelis and Jackson Michaelis also received hardware. Every runner improved their times from the first meet. Both teams will be back in action in two weeks at the Tiffin Carnival.

Girls Cross Country - State Placer Abby Lesniak

Abby Lesniak ended her Edison cross country career in true Abby fashion on Saturday at the State Championship. With a half mile to go Abby told herself she wanted to end it on a positive note. So she went after it, passing 7 people, including 2 with an impressive sprint into the finish line. This earned Abby 10th place in the state and All-Ohio honors. You'll be seeing that medal and smiling face on the cafeteria wall soon. Congratulations Abby, you earned it and we're all so proud of you!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Regionals

Congratulations to Abby Lesinak for becoming a 4-time state qualifier in girls cross country. Abby will compete at 1pm next Saturday in Columbus. Congratulations to the girls team who finished 6th in a very tough region. Aidan Anderson completed his season finishing 43rd in the region.  Looking forward to next year's season!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Districts

It was another week of nerves and excitement for Edison Cross Country this past weekend.  Five points separated the 2nd through 5th place teams, and your Lady Chargers finished in 3rd place to advance to the Regional Meet.  Abby Lesniak finished as the District Runner-up.  Ava Miller ran her best time to round out the scoring. Mary Anderson also ran her best time on the muddy course.    
 
On the boys side, Aidan Anderson ran a great race, finishing 6th overall to qualify for Regionals as an individual.  The boys team finished 7th overall to end their season.  Chase King ran his PR. Our seniors, Dax Austin, Will Duniver & Gabe Schirg ran great races to end their Cross Country career.  
 
Aidan and the Girls team will be running at Regionals this Saturday in Tiffin with a trip to the State meet on the line!

Boys/Girls Cross Country - SBC Champions!!!

It was a great day for the Charger Cross Country Teams at the SBC Championships Saturday. Abby Lesniak became the first female to win 4 individual SBC titles, leading the girls team to their 5th straight outright team title. It truly was a team effort! Peyton Facemire and Paige Schaefer earned first team honors, and Kennedy Baker second team.
On the boys side, Aidan Anderson broke into the 16's and finished in second place leading the team to a runner-up finish. Dax Austin also finished first team, while Will Duniver and Gabe Schirg earned second team honors.
 
Congratulations to Peyton, Paige, Aidan and Gabe for being named runners of the week!
Both teams are running great heading into Districts this Saturday at Galion. Keep up the good work, Chargers!

It has been a busy week for the Charger Cross Country teams. Last Saturday they ran great races at the Tiffin Covid Carnival. The Edison Cross Country teams had a great weekend at the Lake Erie Classic hosted in Vermilion.  The girls team swept their competition, with Chargers finishing in places 1 through 7.  Abby Lesniak, Paige Schaeffer & Lindsay Sneider came home with the medals, and every girl ran a faster time than last week.  On the boys side, Aidan Anderson got his first individual champion medal, leading the boys to a second place team finish behind Firelands.

Congratulations to the Charger boys and girls cross country teams for their exceptional efforts in last weekend’s regional championships. The girls placed 8th while the boys finished 9th. Four Lady Chargers, Paige Schaefer, Peyton Facemire, Lindsay Sneider and Ava Miller ran personal record times while Abby Lesniak led the way with a third place finish and a state championship berth as an individual. The boys were led by Ty Coon’s individual state qualifying 5th place finish. Personal bests were recorded by Aidan Anderson, Eli Webb, Brock Tice and Will Duniver. Both Abby and Tyler will compete in next Saturdays State Cross Country Championships at National Raceway Park in Hebron. Abby will run at 11:45 and Tyler 2:15. More +

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Districts

This past weekend both the boys and girls cross country teams qualified for the regional championships this next Saturday in Tiffin. The girls finished third in a 12 team district field with junior Abby Lesniak winning her second district title in three years. Abby also broke a 14 year old school record with a time of 18 minutes and 7 seconds. Also scoring for the Lady Chargers in order of finish were Paige Schaefer, Peyton Facemire, Lindsay Sneider and Katie Jeremay. The boys placed fourth in the 13 team district. Leading the way for the Chargers with a third place finish was senior Tyler Coon who ran fast enough to break the old school record by one half of a second in a time of 15 minutes 57.1 seconds. Following close behind in fourth place was Daniel Lambert. Other scores for the team were Aidan Anderson, Eli Webb and Dax Austin. More +

Girls Cross Country - SBC

This past Saturday the Lady Charger cross country team raced to their fourth straight SBC title with a 24 point victory margin over second place Margaretta. Leading the way for the team was Abby Lesniak who won her third straight individual title. Following Abby across the finish line were first team all-conference runners Paige Schaefer and Peyton Facemire in third and fourth places respectively. Rounding out the scoring was second team all-conference runner Lindsay Sneider in 15th and Katie Jeremay in 17th. More +

Boys Cross Country - SBC

The boys cross country team finished second in a close race with Huron. Leading the boys was Tyler Coon who won his first SBC individual cross country title. Right behind Tyler was teammate Daniel Lambert in second place. Also making first team All-SBC was Aidan Anderson with a 7th place finish. Rounding out the scoring for the boys was Eli Webb with an all-conference second team 16th place finish followed by Brock Tice in 17th. More +

Boys/Girls Cross Country - New London Invitational

Both the boys and girls cross country teams brought home trophies this past weekend from the New London Invitational. The girls placed first and the boys second. Individually for the girls Abby Lesniak defended her title while both Paige Schaefer and Peyton Facemire finished in the top five.
Tyler Coon defended his title by placing just two seconds ahead of his teammate Daniel Lambert.
The Chargers run this next Saturday in Tiffin at the SBC Championships.

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Centerville Invitational

This past Saturday night the Charger Cross Country Team ran in the Saturday Night Lights Invitational at Centerville. The top time for the boys was run by senior Daniel Lambert while junior Abby Lesniak recorded the top girls time. Personal best times were run by five athletes with Abby breaking her own junior record with a time of 18 minutes and 28 seconds. Other Charger runners to run personal records were Aidan Anderson, Gabe Schirg, Will Duniver and Mallory Jamison. Next up for the Chargers is the New London Invitational on October 5th. More +

Boys/Girls Cross Country - Galion Cross Country Festival

This past Saturday the boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Galion Cross Country Festival. The girls placed 7th overall in a field of 18 teams. Leading the way for the Lady Harriers was junior Abby Lesniak with a fourth place finish with freshman Peyton Facemire the next Lady Charger to cross the finish line in 31st place. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Chargers were Paige Schaefer, Lindsay Sneider and Ava Miller.
The boys team placed 12th with senior Daniel Lambert leading the way with a sixth place finish. Following Daniel across the finish line were scorers Eli Webb, Dax Austin, Brock Tice and Gabe Tice. This next Saturday the boys and girls teams will be running under the lights in the Centerville Saturday Night Lights Invitational.

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams as both qualified for next Saturday’s regional championships in Tiffin. Both teams finished third in a very competitive Galion District.  The girls were led by two top ten overall finishes, Abby Lesniak in fifth place and Isabel Chasney in 10th. The boys were once again led by the junior duo of Daniel lambert and Tyler Coon placing 5th and 6th respectively to make the All-District team. Boys/Girls Cross Country - Sandusky Bay Conference

This past weekend the boys and girls cross country teams made Sandusky Bay Conference history by becoming only the second school to have both teams win three consecutive conference titles. The boys defeated Willard by a score of 38 to 56 and the girls beat Huron 41-69. More +

Boys/Girls Cross Country - New London Invitational

The Charger boys and girls cross country teams had a very successful weekend at the Dan Olien New London Cross Country Invitational as both teams were crowned team champions. The boys were led by individual champion Tyler Coon who was closely followed by runner-up Daniel Lambert. Rounding out the scoring for the Chargers were Jon Hrivnak  4th place, Dax Austin 10th and Aidan Anderson in 11th. The girls were led by individual champion Abbie Lesniak with senior Isabel Chasney coming in fourth. Other top ten finishers were Lindsay Sneider  7th and Katie Jeremay in 10th. Rounding out the scoring was 11th place finisher Paige Schaefer.  Both the boys and girls teams will try to defend there SBC championships this Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park in Tiffin.
