Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Bluffton

The boys’ soccer team finished their season last Saturday in a tough battle against Bluffton who won the Sectional Final match 4 to 1. Jonah Main hit a laser shot in the first half to put the Chargers up 1 nil, Bluffton’s experience and depth were difficult to match the rest of the way.  Our boys finished out the season 10 and 8 First Team to win the SBC Championship under a new coach and in the first season.  Well done mates. Tonight players are asked to turn in their uniforms to the coaching staff and then join in the soccer match that will follow against the Lady Chargers.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Mansfield St. Peter's

The Edison boys soccer team finished their first playoff match last night in fine form.  A very strong offensive scheme resulted in the scoring of 10 goals against Mansfield St. Peter's.  Freshman Jose Serna led the Charger scoring 4 brilliant goals. The other members of the squad: Langdon Leimeister Day, Gabe Dymond, Noah Proctor, Jace Jeremy and 2 lasers from Captain Nick Strecker secured the win. Alex Davidson was Mr. Assist last night complimented by creative play from Jonah Main. All members of the squad played and secured the clean sheet for goalkeeper Samuel McClester. The boys travel to Bluffton Saturday for another playoff match.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Norwalk

The Boys Varsity soccer team wrapped up their regular season Thursday night taking on Norwalk in a great battle. Norwalk took the lead in the first half 1 nil at the end of the half.  A change in tactics in the second half resulted in an improved Edison squad who were determined to fight to the end.  Marvel has Captain America but Edison has Captains Samuel McClester and Nick Strecker who pushed the squad with brilliant saves in the goal and the invincible holding midfielder Captain Nick put Edison on the board with a laser goal to level the game to 1 all.  The battle continued until late in the second half and the Truckers found a way to get in behind the defense and sent a ball into the net sealing the victory for them.  Final result Norwalk 2 Edison 1.   Solid performances turned in by all members of the squad.  Edison begins its playoff run next Wednesday against Mansfield St. Peters.  Good luck boys .

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Clyde

The no goal patrol was in good form last night as the Edison Boys soccer team defeated Clyde 6 nil.  Can't touch this Goalkeeper Samuel McClester. He did not even touch the ball in regulation play.  The team was in good form with good contributions from the reserve players who helped maintain the solid performance of the squad.  A strong attack was generated by goal scorers Alex Davidson, Jonah Main, Kellen McDonnel and Jose Serna and Nick Strecker.  The boys take on Norwalk Thursday night on Bolt field at 5 pm in the last non-conference match of the season before playoffs which begin next week.  Edison boys are placed in the 5th seed position in the Tiffin District.  Lets goooo Chargers Soccer!

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Oak Harbor

The boys soccer team boarded the bus last night holding a solid second place in the SBC conference.  At the conclusion of the match against Oak Harbor the Chargers won the match with a 3 nil win and boarded the bus home as SBC Champs. The no goal patrol was in fine form last night with Samuel McClester turning in his fourth clean sheet. The attacking precision started early with Jonah Main putting a laser penalty kick into the far corner and got the Chargers on the board. Later in the first half Mr. Endurance Kellen McDonnell scored his third goal in 3 matches with a stellar finish on goal.  Finally, in the second half "Strongman " and the biggest lad on the no goal patrol, Jace Jeremy topped off the scoring with a flick on header rocketing past the Oak Harbor keeper.  Well done boys!! The boys soccer team no goal patrol was on duty Saturday as the team shut down Port Clinton and won the match 2 to 0. The 2 goals were scored by Mr. Endurance Kellen McDonnell in the second half of the match. The boys travel to Oak Harbor tonight.  Go Chargers.

Last night the no goal patrol put in a stellar performance by not allowing a goal against Willard. Isaac Sloane, Noah Proctor,  Jace Jeremy and Langdon Leimister Day along with clean sheet goal keeper Sam McAlester put in a stellar effort. Goal scorers Alex Davidson  put the team ahead early with a strategic penalty kick Jonah Main hit a lazer shot to continue the offensive push and Jose Serma provided the 2 goals to secure the win. Great stuff.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Old Fort

Last night the Chargers Boys soccer team battled back to defeat Old Fort in a conference matchup.  The boys continued to demonstrate their resilience and soundly defeated Old Fort 3 to 1.  Edison is sitting in second place in the Sandusky Bay Conference.  Stellar goals began with Jonah Main finding the goal from an assist from Zack Flory in the closing minutes of the first half to level the score to 1 all.
In the second half Seniors Zac Flory and Ryan Hanson took the team on their backs and scored 2 goals to secure the win. Outstanding defensive play and midfield control of the match was demonstrated once again.  The boys head off to Willard tonight.  Great stuff boys!!!

The boys varsity soccer team turned in another brilliant performance by defeating Huron 2 to 1, ending Huron undefeated streak. Goals were scored by Jose Serma who finished a lovely cross from Kellen McDonnell. The second goal was scored by Alex Davidson a blazing strike to the upper 90 corner of the goal. Solid goal keeping and a strong defensive performance in the back line and midfield players sealed the win for the Chargers.

The boys varsity soccer team turned in another stellar performance Thursday night. The team defeated Oak Harbor 2 nil. The no goal patrol ensured a clean sheet for goal keeper Samuel McClester.The defense was anchored by Langdon Day, Noah Proctor Jace Jeremy and Zack Flory and Nick Strecker. Goals were scored by Jose Serma Amaya who now has 6 goals in the season and Jonah Main who has scored 3 goals. Well done lads.

The boys soccer team continued to battle all match against Old Fort and soundly defeated Old Fort 3 to 2.  Two goals were scored by attacking mid fielder Jonah Main and 1 goal was scored by freshman forward Jose Serna. Outstanding contributions were made by the back 3 defensive players led by center back Noah Proctor, Langdon Day and Isaac Sloan. The midfield play remains brilliant. Alex Davidson and Nick Strecker continue to bring high soccer I Q to this area of the pitch. Thursday the boys play home to Oak Harbor at 5 pm.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Port Clinton

The Boys Varsity team defeated Port Clinton 3 to 0. The boys were clinical in their defensive play and dominated the midfield by controlling and breaking the lines of a traditionally strong defensive opponent.  Alex Davidson and Jonah Main, and Nick Strecker dominated in the midfield creating opportunities for the forward line. Jose Serma was the hat trick goal scorer, earning opportunities to get some great finishes on goal. Sam McClester posted his first clean sheet as a goalkeeper for the Chargers. Noah Proctor, Isaac Sloane, and Langedan Day were the three key defenders of the no goal patrol. Great effort and result boys.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Vermilion

The boys varsity soccer team played their socks off last night against Vermilion. The match was even after the first half. In the second half Langdon Leimeister- Day was pushed up higher on the pitch and netted the Chargers first goal to take the lead in the match. Langdon hit a blazing shot. Vermilion equalized off a penalty kick and with 2 minutes remaining pushed in their second goal sealing the victory for Vermilion. Our boys continue to improve each match and they are looking forward to taking on Huron Monday night.

JV boys soccer lost to Perkins 8-2 on Tuesday night. Jose Serna scored the first goal on a tremendous volley after a great cross from Kellen McDonnell. Serna also added another goal later in the match. The JV squads’ next game is 8/30 at Willard.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Genoa

The Edison boys varsity soccer team opened their season Saturday against the Genoa Comets. The boys fought hard but were defeated by a score of 6-1. Ryan Hanson scored the lone goal for the Chargers on a great shot after he stayed with a deflected ball off a shot from Alex Davidson. Edison received great play on the outside by Kellen McDonnell and Isaac Sloan. Samuel McClester made a handful of great saves to help keep the Chargers in the game in the 1st half. The boys next game is Thursday at the Vermilion Sailors at 6:00.
